What? The Mold-A-Rama, Inc. of L.A. machine of the early 60s had AUDIO?
Turn out, for a short time in 1962 or so apparently they did!
An original 1962 era AUDIO loop tape from a machine made by Mold-A-Rama, Inc. of L.A. (similar to an 8-track tape, but well before that was invented.) A Nov. 16, 1962 Cincinnati Post article: "Eventually, all the machines will be supplied with a double-track sound tape that will periodically explain to passersby what the machine is all about and, when the coin is inserted, add a few space age sound effects." Thankfully MOLDVILLE has digitized these tapes as they have again been lost to histor
Switch controls on the right side of a 1962 machine: "ALL SOUND" on/off, and "SOUND, ONE TRACK" on/off. "All sound" likely enabled both tracks on the 2-track tape. A first track, when the Mold-A-Rama of L.A. machine is not actively molding a figure, periodically explained to passersby what the machine is all about. The audio likely switched to output the space sounds during the duration of the molding process.
