A "BOTTOMS UP" card can be seen in this promotional photo for a prototype Sinclair machine. It ties the 'Miller Animals' of the mid-1950s to the MOLD-A-RAMA of L.A. machine of 1962. The figure that the hand is holding in the BOTTOMS UP card is NOT the elephant that we would have expected (the one from a MOLD-A-RAMA of L.A. machine at the time), but rather it is a MILLER ELEPHANT presumed to be from the mid-50s! The shape of the ear, and ripples in the elephant's skin, are a perfect match! (See
MILLER elephant on left, elephant from a machine original operated by Mold-A-Rama of L.A. on the right. The base with 3 holes is quite the mystery though, both because it is one more hole than the machine typically makes, and also because the Miller animals have no base!
An original "Type B" Installation and Operation Manual
It's quite difficult to still read, but this is an original wiring diagram mounted by the factory inside the right-hand door. A cleaner version of the wiring diagram for the Model 688-A ("Type B" machine) is below:
Original hand-painted 'Featuring' sign (from an original SHELL FACTORY 50c plexi backglass.)
This service tag, dating from the earliest days of the Mold-A-Rama, Inc. of L.A. company (which was owned by Automatic Retailers of America (ARA)), was found under a layer of paint on the deck of my early Model 688 machine. Just call "HUdson 7-4200" for service on your Mold-A-Rama of L.A. machine!
